What is Stealth Technology?


Stealth technology, also known as stealth, is a set of techniques and technologies used to make an object, such as an aircraft or a ship, less detectable by radar and other electronic sensors. Stealth technology is used to reduce the visibility of an object to radar and other sensors by reducing its radar cross-section (RCS), which is a measure of the amount of radar energy that is reflected back to the radar antenna.


Stealth technology can be used to make an object more difficult to detect by radar, but it does not make the object completely invisible. Instead, it reduces the range at which the object can be detected by radar, making it more difficult for radar operators to detect and track the object.


Stealth technology can be achieved through a variety of means, including the use of radar-absorbent materials, shaping the object to minimize its RCS, and using techniques such as low observables (LOs) to reduce the visibility of the object to radar. Stealth technology is used in a wide range of military and civilian applications, including aircraft, ships, missiles, and ground vehicles.




Stealth Technology in Defence

  • Stealth ground vehicles: Some countries have developed or are developing stealth ground vehicles, such as tanks and armored personnel carriers, which are designed to be less detectable by radar and other sensors. These vehicles can be used for a variety of missions, including reconnaissance, attack, and defense.

Stealth technology is a key component of many countries' defense strategies and is used to increase the effectiveness and survivability of military assets in times of conflict.
