Color starts as a wavelength of light, but what you actually see is your eye and brain turning that into 'calm blue' or 'urgent red' — and culture pushes it further, since white means weddings in one place and funerals in another. Designers tame this with systems that predict what will read as luxurious or cheap. It links to how words carry meaning, because a color is a kind of signal we've all agreed to read; to physics, since color is really quantum-level light; and to chemistry, because every pigment is a specific molecule.
