Creation Myths and Origin Stories
Also known as cosmogonic myth
Every tradition carries big stories that answer the hardest questions — where the world came from, why we suffer, how it all ends — and these tales hold a group's shared truth. They connect to Literature, since the craft of narrative and storytelling is exactly how such meaning gets passed down. They bump against Science, whose account of Earth and the planets tells a very different origin story. And they feed History, where nations often build their identity on a founding myth of their own.
