An ideology is a mental map of how society should work, and liberalism, conservatism, socialism and nationalism are four rival maps that disagree on almost everything. Because people carry different maps, they read the same news and reach opposite conclusions, which is the engine behind today's bitter polarisation. This connects to Psychology, since how we perceive, pay attention and differ in personality shapes which map feels obviously right to us. It also rhymes with Religion, where the clash between orthodoxy and heresy is an old version of the same fight over which set of beliefs is allowed.
