The Engineering Design Process

Also known as design process

The engineering design process is the loop you run to turn a need — say, a bridge that won't fall — into a real thing that works, using no more money, time, or material than you actually have. You define the problem, sketch options, build a rough version, test it, and improve it again and again. This is really the same move economists call scarcity and trade-offs (you can't have everything, so you choose), and it shapes how democracies decide which projects to fund and how laws set the safety rules a design must obey. Even therapy uses the loop: try a change, see what happens, adjust.
