World literature
Also known as world literature classics / must-read books across cultures
World literature means reading across many cultures and eras, and doing so shows two things at once: humans everywhere wrestle with love, death, and power, yet each tradition names those things in strikingly different ways. It pairs with social psychology, which studies how the group you grow up in shapes what you feel and value. Geography matters too, since which stories travel and which stay local often depends on distance and trade routes. And it connects to media, where networks and gatekeepers still decide which foreign books ever reach your shelf.
