Technology Ethics & the Digital Society
Also known as technology ethics, technoethics, IT ethics, ICT ethics
Technology ethics is the habit of asking, before and after we build something powerful, who gets watched, who loses privacy or freedom, and who quietly pays the price. It leans on philosophy's long study of consciousness and the mind — you can't protect a person's autonomy without a view of what a person is — and on law's core question of what 'fair' means when a tool helps some and harms others. It reaches into psychology, since apps are built to shape how habits form and break, into religion's ideas about the moral life and the divine, and into sociology's map of power, status, and authority — because who controls the technology usually decides who wins.
